Hollywood tracking project

Mama

Mama began production in 2011 3rd october in Toronto Pinewood Studios. It ended in the 18th of December and part of the film was shot in Quebec.  It was originally slated for release in October 1012 but for undisclosed reasons it was released in 2013 January.
1,512,297 - UK figures show that this is what Mama has earned in just two weeks after it's release in the UK and is third in the current top 15 films. In the USA Mama has done much better and is the highest grossing film (28 million) in January. This could be because the film has a lot of American aspects to it as it was produced by a north american company and is set in America. Therefore the producers and the directors would have kept America in mind when creating the film.
The film I think appeals to all ethnic groups and not only that but appeals to parents to, because from the trailer who understand that these two people are adopting the girls and therefore the film may raise issues on the subject of parenthood.
The distribution is usually headed by the production company and because this film was produced by a very big studio and has one relatively famous celebrity and so would be shown in bigger chain cinemas. If the film was indie and didn't have a big budget and didn't have any known actors then it would be shown in an independent cinema.
The classification of the film is 15 and so appeals to that target audience and because 18 films are becoming less and less common it means that they have to show more violence, sex, and strong language than they used to; they did this and so it appeals to everyone.
The film was released near no major holiday's and so it does not represent any of these holiday's. Because there aren't really any other horror films coming out this march I think Mama will do well - for horror fan's they'd have to see it seeming as the pickings are very slim. Usually there's a lot of horror films which come out during october, near Halloween, and so Mama may have done better if it had been released then. But that also means that it would have to contend with a bunch of other horror films and so will have to stand out from them - this film did not stand out to me and looking at the box office figures it didn't appeal to many other people either.
