Taken 2

The film was directed by Oliver Megaton and was produced by Luc Besson who also wrote the film. it stars Liam Neeson and others.

The film took place during early 2012 and was first shown on the 7th of September in the American film festival, i think one of the reasons it was shown in America fist is because the protagonist is American and so it would appeal to them a lot more then most other countries.   on the 7th of October it was released in 25 international countries, this would be because Hollywood produced it and so it would be shown in America first.

Box Office

As of october 21st the film had grossed 105,832,339 in north america and internationally 174,452,000 which is very good, this is due to the success of the first film so fans of that were automatically drawn to this. This brings the total amount to 280, 284,339. For the opening day in north america and canada the film grossed 18.4 million. 1.5 of this came from midnight showings which again sows that the people really wanted to see this film and the first film helped the sequel succeed in the box office. During its second week in the box office it dropped 55.8% from its first week, this could be for a number of reasons; word of mouth, for example someone might have seen it and disliked it and told his friends not to watch it. Another reason could be the arrival of other films like; Sinister and Looper, both of which were box office hits. Taken 2 earned 37 million in the first week of showing in the UK. Compared to north America this is lower maybe because the protagonist is American and it was released in america earlier.

The film got mostly mixed reviews from critics, it got 21% on rotten tomatoes, other critics said the film was "Taken 2 is slick, professional action".




Production

Filming took place throughout early 2012; scenes depicting Neeson and Grace's characters in Los Angles were shot in January.

Istanbul scenes were shot in November 2011 but were delayed due to unforeseen weather.

Sequel  

Liam Neeson doesn't know if there will be a sequel but twentieth century fox say that there will be but the story line will be completely different from the same formulae Taken has used in the last two films. This should be interesting and I think some thing called taken, the next film something or someone will have to be Taken so instead of a family member being taken an important piece might be taken and Liam Neeson will have to find it.
