Analysis of Interviews

All five of the people I have interviewed watch TV for over four hours or more per day, so I believe the people I have interviewed are well in formed on TV and their shows and idents, so these comments will be relevant to other peoples.

When I asked what channels where their favorite three replied with e4. One replied with Comedy central and one with film4. This shows that most of the people that answered my questions are comedy fans so the ident we will build on their information will be perhaps comedy based. From this we understand that most of our audiences enjoy comedy so that should be a main part of our ident.

When I asked what their favorite music was HIP-POP. This gives us the idea that our ident may be better received if we play hip-pop style music in the background. I also interviewed a media teacher who is older then most of the other people I have interviewed; she is conscience of such things and suggested that our ident would be better without lyrics in the music. This would be better because the lyrics may attract attention from the actual ident and the voiceover announcing the next program.

I asked what color was their favorite because this would be good information to have for when we create our ident and decide what to colour it, what would suit it best and appeal to the target audience the most. The answers I got were varied; Green, red, Purple, Blue and grey were all given once. It is difficult to extract exact information from this. What I can take from this is that most of the colours they picked were brighter and only one dim colour; Grey. So I think it would be best to present our ident with bright colours, this would also be interesting and eye catching rather then dim colours.

When I asked what the best way to present the ident would be all of them decided that animation was the best. This shows that animation would be the best choice because you can do more with it and the people want it.

When I asked what their favorite genre of programming was most of them said comedy but a few said drama. Maybe the ident needs to be comedy based to appeal to the audience more but a hint of drama as well.

When I asked if the viewers if the actors should perform in these idents some aid yes and others said no. I personally think it’s a bad idea, though it might bring popularity to the program it may confuse people on the identity of the channel and we would rather be advertising their show that broadcasting our corporate identity.

When I asked about what their favorite ident was they all replied E4 barn ident. This is also backed up in the other answers because that ident has; animation, colour, music (with no lyrics) and is funny. Making idents similar to this one would be a good idea.

People want a lot of things going on in these idents and more animation.

When I asked if text would work well in the ident they all replied no as it would draw attention from the ident its self and the voiceover person.
