  1. I picked this font for kids because I fought it looked childish and as id a child had drawn it with crayons or paint. It is also informal.
  2. I picked this font because it is ancient Greek text and hundreds of years old so it suits the word history and adds a historical feel to the word.
  3. I picked this font for the word sophistication because it is neat and flicks at the end. The letters are very fine and it looks as if a rich sophisticated man may have written it.
  4. I picked this for the word modern because it’s a very new style of font and not used many times before, it’s got a real science fiction feel to it.
  5. I picked this font for art because it is messy and seems to be done with a paintbrush. Because art has no limits or rules I made the paint brushed letter seem arty.
  6. Fashion is very refined and is usually seem as something rich people indulge in. As fashion itself stands out as does the font.
  7. I picked this font for the word sport because it shows people doing sport forming letter while engaging in their activities. From the pictures/letters you can make a link to sport.
  8. I picked this because it’s modern and its san serif. Its bubble writing so the letters themselves are quite funny, it looks like its made out of balloons which is usually associated with clowns.
  9. I picked this because the letters are sharp and straight to the point, just like drama itself. Its sans serif, which gives it, a modern feel.
  10. I picked this because it looks for arty just as the font I used for the word ‘art’ looks like. Its unkempt so it has no formal feels.

11. I picked this font because it suits the word teenager well. Its in a graffiti type feel which whenever seen is associated with teenagers and young people.

12. I picked this fount because its letters are long and wide, just as a fat man is long and wide.

Clearances

The idea of clearances is to move something in the way or getting rid of it. Basically you will need legal permission to do stuff and if you don't you can get sued or arrested or even worse dead.

MCPRS- This is a society in which they have the royalties to a song or a band and in order to use their music in a film you will have to ask them for permission and pay a fee otherwise you are using the song illegally and you can be sued for that. For example if you want to use a Rhianna song in your film or any other commercial endeavor then you will have to ask permission for PRS and pay them for the rights to do so. Artists use this so their music can not be used because if this did not exist their would be no limit to what you can use for free in your film. When people have not properly paid for the rights to play music owned by PRS they have bee sued. PRS have also targeted small § even police stations. In one case they told a 61 year old mechanic that he could not play music from his radio unless he paid 150 pound to play it.

Narrative Theory

In this post i will be discussing how the film Lord of the Rings (fellowship of the ring) follows certain narrative theories. Lord of the Rings is a fantasy film depicting the war for middle-earth and the ring, it follows the fellowship as they quest to destroy the ring.
The film is a mix of Levi-Strauss's theory, and Propp's. Levi believed that the narrative is pushed by the use of binary oppositions and that is true for the Lord of the Rings. Frodo has many binary oppositions the main one being within himself, and his will power to fight against the ring, the men of middle earth are facing the orcs, Gandalf is facing Sarouman all these are used to further the narrative and the story and without them there would be no film. another interesting thing about Frodo's binary opposition with the ring is that we have seen it before, with Smeagul and Boromir, so the suspense is all the more real. The main binary opposition is still the age old idea of good vs evil. Another intresting binary opposistion, and this also fits into Barthes theory on an enigma code, is the opposition that Gandalf has with Sarouman, both are wizards and were friemds. We do not realise that sarouman has turned bad till he attacks Gandalf and this comes as a suprise, other than that we do not see many twists or engima codes as everything in this film is introduced as it is with nothing to hide. I beleive this works against the film (but thats just my opinion). In each of these characters Bormir and Smeagul we can see what happens when you give in to the temptation of the ring and when you dont. In Boromir's case he didn's and he died a noble death for it, in Smeaguls case he gave into the temptation and also becomes the false hero which follows Propps theory of the seven spheres of action.
The lord of the rings follows Propps theory because the characters follow closely his seven spheres;
Hero-Frodo
Villian; Saroun
Donor;Gandalf
Helper;Sam
Princess; This is a good one, I believe the 'princess' is the land and the war its self, the people of the land.
False hero; Smeagol
Dispacher; Elron (the elf).
Many other characters fit in the differnt catogories but there are to many to list. This works well with Tordov's theory of the five narrative stages. The beggining being peace in the Shire. The distruption being the Ring. The middle being Frodo's quest. The resolution being the final battle and the destruction of the ring and the ending being peace, restoring everything back to the way it was.
So the use of Tordov's, Propp's and Levi-Strauss's theories is what pushes this narrative forward and makes it so intresting, its lack of enigma codes may also work for this because what this film shows is simple; Good vs Evil, Greed vs Will, Love vs Hate and the tests of friendship and it is as simple as that.
